U.N. war crimes tribunal in The Hague. #L#
On the third day of his testimony, the witness was cross-examined by
the defendant.
Kirudja had been a civil affairs coordinator in the Topusko-based
UNPA Sector North and later a special envoy of the U.N. mission's
chief in Croatia in charge of liaison with authorities in
Belgrade.
Milosevic read out excerpts from a series of documents dating back
to Kirudja's service in the UNPROFOR (United Nations Protection
Force). He wanted the witness to corroborate their authenticity.
The selected excerpts were aimed at downplaying the Serbian side's
responsibility for the crimes and at pointing to the existence of
equal guilt of all sides in the 1990s conflicts.
Kirudja corroborated virtually none and denied a number of claims.
