ZAGREB/THE HAGUE, Jan 29 (Hina) - The trial of former Yugoslav
President Slobodan Milosevic before the UN war crimes tribunal in
The Hague resumed on Wednesday with the testimony of a protected
witness. #L#
Witness C-13, whose identity was concealed and voice
electronically distorted, described the mounting of tensions
between ethnic communities in eastern Slavonia after 1990, and how
reports that both Croats and Serbs began arming themselves started
spreading.
Serb police officers started leaving their jobs, while Croatian
authorities increased the number of their police units, the witness
said, describing how weapons were sent to the Serb-populated
villages such as Bobota.
The witness is expected to testify about the policy of expulsion of
non-Serbs from Croatian areas held by Serb forces.
