ZAGREB, Jan 31 (Hina) - The Institute for Public Funding and the

of Economic and Legal Adjustment". The book was presented in Zagreb

The book deals with several vital issues in the process of accession
- macroeconomy, banking and finances, taxes, state incentives, the
trade policy, the power industry, agriculture, employment, the
legal system, the non-government sector and gender equality.
Speaking at the presentation of the book, Germany's Ambassador to
Croatia, Gebhardt Weiss, said the book was proof that Croatia
possessed an elite group of competent people, scientists, who could
help it join the EU.
The editor of the book, Katarina Ott, said that all the authors
shared the same view, namely that it was necessary to educate all
those who were included in the process of accession about the
significance of public administration and independent bodies and
the need for adjusting domestic regulations to the EU standards.
The head of the foundation's office for Croatia and Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Ruediger Pintar, said that Premier Ivica Racan's tour
of EU member-countries, particularly Brussels, indicated that
Croatia's intention to submit an application for EU membership was
coming across positive responses.
