Croatia on its path to the European Union, said a financial expert,
Rene Alfons Haiden, at the presentation of the book "Chances of the
European Union's Enlargement" in Vienna on Thursday. #L#
"Austria is obliged to support Croatia on its path to the European
Union because of their joint historical connections and the joint
future in a united Europe," said Haiden, who is the head of the
umbrella organisation for the promotion of manufacturing plants in
areas bordering with neighbouring countries.
He added that Croatia had made great progress in its development and
that it should do all it can to become a full member of the Union in
2007.
Haiden also voiced readiness to participate in joint Austrian-
Croatian actions aimed at lobbying for Zagreb's application. He
advocated that Zagreb should be more aggressive, such as Romania
and Bulgaria.
