Culture Minister Antun Vujic said that editors on HRT had been in
crisis for two months already. He described the situation as "a
Rashomon of unsolved issues which prevents the normal functioning
of Croatian Television". He said the current situation was
affecting the financial crisis as well because Croatian Television
marked about a 30 million kuna lower income. Because of the current
crisis Croatian Television is also exposed to numerous
illegitimate political influences, the minister said.
As one of the issues which should be solved, Vujic pointed to
whether it should be regulated by law that three percent of the
television subscription be earmarked for a media pluralisation
fund. Such a regulation has already been moved, while the minister
claims it is not a custom in Europe, even though some countries,
i.e. Switzerland, had it.
