The government adopted the Operative Plan for the Implementation of
Programme Priorities in 2003 last August. The document defines
institutions which are to implement concrete development projects
and implementation deadlines. First on the list of priorities,
which includes about a dozen projects, is road construction,
primarily the construction of the Zagreb-Split highway.
The government also defined deadlines for the completion of some 20
programme priorities, from the financial consolidation of the
public sector to the reform of the judiciary, education,
agriculture, state administration, the social care sector etc.
These priorities received parliamentary support last summer after
the parliament gave a vote of confidence in the government.
The government will tomorrow also formulate a national programme
for the prevention of drug abuse for this year.
