DRENOVCI, Jan 14 (hina) - Last year, 5.5 million square metres of land was cleared of mines in Vukovar-Srijem County and plans for this year is to clear another 8.5 million square metres, it was said at Tuesday's session which the
county authorities held in Drenovci.

In 2002 explosives experts discovered 2,536 mines, Zlatko Pavlovic
said.
County prefect Nikola Safer said 75 million kuna (around EUR10
million) were necessary to implement this year's mine removal
plans. The county has earmarked one million kuna (EUR133,333) of
its budgetary funds for this purpose, while the rest should come
from the state budget and donations.
