ratification. #L#
The French parliament's foreign relations commission, chaired by
Eduard Balladur, endorsed the draft act on the ratification of the
SAA on 13 November 2002.
In October 2001, Croatia and the EU signed the agreement, which will
come into force upon its ratification by all EU member-states'
parliaments and by the Croatian Sabor and the European Parliament.
The latter two have already done this.
The SAA has so far been confirmed by parliaments of Germany,
Denmark, Ireland, Austria and Spain.
Last October the British government decided to discontinue the
process of ratification until Zagreb handed over General Janko
Bobetko to the UN war crimes tribunal (ICTY). The Dutch government
acted in a similar manner for the same reason. The Dutch parliament
voted for the ratification, but the European Commission has not yet
been notified of it, so the process of ratification (which includes
this notification) has not actually been completed.
