MOSTAR, Dec 31 (Hina) - The Croat member of Bosnia-Herzegovina's
Presidency, Dragan Covic, has called on authorities in Zagreb to support
Bosnian Croats in their efforts to secure an equal position for themselves in
relation to the country's two other constituent ethnic groups ahead of
forthcoming constitutional changes."We seek assistance in building Bosnia-Herzegovina as a modern,
democratic and sovereign country in which the three peoples will truly have an
equal status," Covic said in an interview with the Bosnian edition of the
Zagreb daily Vecernji List on Friday. "In the next period I expect a much
clearer stance (from Zagreb)," he stressed.
Covic expressed understanding for the caution exercised by Croatia in
dealing with Bosnian Croats so as not to be involved in the internal affairs of
the neighbouring country, but added that Croatia sometimes used this argument
as "a good excuse for inaction".
