"Kosor is obviously avoiding a duel and she is claiming that the reason is my having called her 'Suzana' and 'Mother Teresa'. I did not mean anything bad by that... I cannot apologise because she herself has said that she is proud to be called (Mother Teresa)," Mesic said during a meeting with the residents of Samobor.
Mesic believes that he will win the January 2 elections in the first round.
He criticised Kosor for claiming that she would reduce the budget of the President's Office if she won the elections, stating that the cost of her presidential campaign was higher than the annual budget of his office.
Asked to comment on the course of the campaign, Mesic said that some of his rivals had resorted to insinuations and mud-slinging and announced lawsuits against some candidates.
