ZAGREB, Dec 23 (Hina) - The presidential candidate of the Croatian Bloc (HB), Ivic Pasalic, told reporters on Thursday that the "loud" part of his campaign had ended with Wednesday's rally in Zagreb and that the party would now launch a "quiet" part of the campaign to last during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Pasalic said that it was inappropriate to hold election rallies during the Christmas holidays and that HB members and party supporters and volunteers would distribute leaflets with his platform instead.

"During our campaign we have tried to confront the existing servile policy of Ivo Sanader and Stjepan Mesic with a sovereign and nation-building concept and I believe that that concept will be recognised by many voters," Pasalic said.

He announced that his election headquarters would hold several news conferences after Christmas to formally wrap up the campaign.

Party officials said that Pasalic's election headquarters was the first and for the time being the only one to have submitted to the State Election Commission a provisional report on the financing of the campaign, which cost 1.2 million kuna.

The Law on the Financing of Presidential Election Campaigns binds candidates to submit provisional reports seven days before elections at the latest.
