BELGRADE, Dec 27 (Hina) - The Serbian Education Ministry on Mondaydecided to allow first- and second-graders of Bosniak origin to betaught the Bosniak language and history in elementary schools inSerbian areas predominantly populated
by this ethnic minority.
BELGRADE, Dec 27 (Hina) - The Serbian Education Ministry on Monday
decided to allow first- and second-graders of Bosniak origin to be taught the
Bosniak language and history in elementary schools in Serbian areas
predominantly populated by this ethnic minority.The decision was made at the proposal of the Serbian council for ethnic
minorities following an agreement between Education Minister Slobodan
Vuksanovic and representatives of the Bosniak minority.
The Bosniak language will be an elective subject.
Bosniak minority representative Esad Dzudzevic was quoted by Radio B92
as saying that the decision was very important and that the Bosniak community
was the last of 38 minorities in Serbia to be granted this right.
