Commenting on his and President Stjepan Mesic's decision to appoint Karamarko the new POA chief and announcements that his task would be to reform security services, Sanader said Karamarko's task would be "to bring security services finally into order after 14 years of Croatia's independence".
"There must be no politicising. These people must be high professionals, but also patriots," said Sanader.
President Mesic said earlier today that Karamarko had been entrusted with forming a team of experts unincumbered by party affiliation or ties with other state services, who were expected to make a comparison of domestic intelligence services and those in the European Union so as to improve the existing legislation on that sector.
