Most Kosovo Croats lived in the area of Vitina in the eastern part of the province. Local authorities have adopted a strategy of return to be implemented next year. Three Croat villages in the Vitina municipality are almost completely deserted, with only fifty, mostly elderly persons inhabiting the largest village, Letnica. The village of Janjevo, some 17 kilometres south of Pristina, currently has the largest number of Croat residents.
A Kosovo Croat representative has said that Kosovo Croats currently residing in Croatia are interested in returning to their homes.
