The speaker of the parliament will again be an academic, Nexhat Daci, also an official of the DSK which holds 47 seats in the 120-seat body.
The presidency of the Kosovo parliament will consist of eight members representing all ethnic communities in the province.
The parliament elected the new Prime Minister, Ramush Haradinaj, who is the leader of the Alliance for Kosovo's Future, and 13 ministers of his cabinet.
UN Civil Administrator Soeren Jessen-Petersen said on that occasion that the UN Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) was planning to transfer to local institutions all powers, except those which referred to sovereignty.
Petersen reiterated that the last elections were free and fair, adding that although the turnout of local Serbs was very low, they could count on posts in transitional institutions of Kosovo.
Thanking for his re-election, President Rugova pledged to protect Kosovo's territorial integrity and the unity of its people, promote economic and democratic development, and advocate the independence of the province.
