Ministry's working group for Iraq, VinkoLjubicic, told Hina on Thursday.
ZAGREB, Dec 2 (Hina) - Croatian truck driver Damir Mikulic, who has
been detained in a U.S. prison in Iraq for the past two months, will be
released and return to Croatia in 14 days at the most, the head of the Croatian
Foreign Ministry's working group for Iraq, Vinko Ljubicic, told Hina on
Thursday."The United States has given the green light to release Damir Mikulic,"
Ljubicic said.
He said the process of releasing the Croat driver was underway and added
that some formal issues were still to be settled, which would take no more
than 14 days.
"The US side has informed us that in Mikulic's case the procedure could
end even before that," Ljubicic said.
Mikulic was arrested over two months ago by U.S. troops in Iraq on
suspicion of espionage. He was detained at Bucca camp near Umm Qasr in southern
Iraq, where U.S. troops detain foreigners.
