The Serbian Government issued a statement labelling the Haradinaj appointment provocative and risky, and calling for talks on decentralisation and other key issues regarding Kosovo.
The session was also attended by representatives of the state union of Serbia and Montenegro. It was asked that the talks involve representatives of UNMIK, transitional Kosovo institutions, Kosovo Serbs, and on the other side representatives of Serbia and the state union.
Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica said the Belgrade-Pristina negotiations on transitional self-government institutions had been brought into question because they included a man accused of war crimes.
The Serbian Government urged the UN Security Council to monitor the implementation of Resolution 1244 on Kosovo, and the missions of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the Council of Europe to clearly define their positions on Haradinaj's appointment as Kosovo prime minister.
