The ministry's representative on the board of creditors of the Rijeka-based shipyard, which has gone into receivership, accepted the proposal for the state takeover of the main plant at Martinscica if other creditors can cover their claims from funds ensured by the sale of the Vranjic-based Dock 11, receiver Milenko Skrlec told a news conference on Wednesday.
Agreement in principle on the matter was reached by the board of creditors at a meeting in September, however, the creditors, who are mainly commercial banks, have not yet managed to agree on how to divide the money secured from the sale of the said dock.
HVB Splitska Banka, Raiffeisen Bank, the International Financial Corporation (which is part of the World Bank), the DEG German Development Bank, the Croatia Osiguranje insurance company, and the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development (HBOR) have the lien on real estate of the shipyard.
It was agreed on Wednesday that the money secured from the dock's sale should be deposited into the account of the Rijeka Commercial Court, which is conducting the bankruptcy proceedings, and that creditors should agree later on how to share it.
This will make it possible to lift the lien from the main plant at Martinscinca which would become the state-onwed property.
