Opening the conference, Chritstian Schmitz from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation said Croatia already developed the tradition of social responsibility, but added that awareness of responsibility of companies towards its employees, stock holders, consumers and the social community was just being raised.
Socially responsible business increases the competitiveness of companies and the European Union has set that as one of the key instruments so as to become the most competitive and most dynamic economic market in the world by 2010.
The Croatian European Integration Ministry is one of the sponsors of the conference.
