Under an amendment which was added to the 2005 budget law, ICC member-countries which have not signed an agreement with the USA on the non-extradition of US citizens to the ICC will not receive US funds from a fund on economic assistance.
Croatia has refused to sign the agreement, however, it is not affected by the regulation from the new budget law because it does not receive funds from the fund on economic assistance.
The amendment does not refer to the fund for support to East European democracies from which Croatia is expected to receive 20 million dollars, the spokesman said.
The programme of support to South-East European democracies (SEED) in 2005 envisages 20 million dollars of assistance to Croatia to be used for the strengthening of democratic institutions and the rule of law, including cooperation with the Hague war crimes tribunal.
Apart from those funds, the USA has ensured 690,000 dollars for Croatia in 2005 to be used for training in export and border control with the aim of preventing the spreading of weapons of mass destruction.
In 2005 Croatia will not be granted US military assistance for its failure to sign the agreement.
