ZAGREB, Nov 25 (Hina) - The parliamentary vote on the 2005 national budget has shown the true colours of many deputies because it was evident that the opposition was faking, Istrian Democratic Assembly (IDS) MP Damir Kajin told the press on Thursday.

He said that only 17 opposition MPs voted against the budget -- three of the four deputies from the IDS, one of the two from the Liberal Party (LS), and 13 of the 34 Social Democrats (SDP).

Kajin pointed out that no one from the People's Party (HNS), the Peasant Party (HSS), the Party of Rights (HSP), or Libra was present at yesterday's voting.

He said the opposition should have attended although he conceded that the battle for the national budget was lost three or four years ago, when the then coalition Government decided that a qualified majority was not required for the adoption of the budget.

Commenting on Croatian-Slovene relations, Kajin said that those who thought the outstanding issues that were not solved with former Prime Minister Antun Rop would disappear with new PM Janez Jansa were wrong.

The IDS maintains the Government should focus on economic cooperation with Slovenia and on road building. "Slovenia won't formally obstruct Croatia's admission to the EU but it will do so by not building roads."

Kajin said he did not think Slovenia would consent to returning Sveta Gera Hill, and that Croatia must not consent to the Ljubljanska Banka issue being included in talks on succession to the former Yugoslavia.
