PULA, Nov 28 (Hina) - The leaders of five political parties' Istria County branches signed the Coalition Istria agreement in Pula on Sunday to run in next year's local elections in the northern Adriatic county in a coalition.

The agreement was signed by the leaders of the county branches of the People's Party (HNS), the Liberal Party (LS), the Social Liberals (HSLS), the Peasant Party (HSS), and the Green Democratic Alliance (DSZ).

Ivan Stanic of the LS said the agreement was not signed against the Istrian Democratic Assembly (IDS) party but to create a civic, liberal and democratic Istria. He added the IDS had become the Istrian branch of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party.

Radimir Cacic of the HNS said he expected Coalition Istria to win 25-30 percent of the vote in Istria and become an important political factor in the county by changing or taking over power.
