Pasalic, who held a news conference in Zagreb on Wednesday, accused the Ivo Sanader cabinet of procrastinating with officially calling the elections only to be able to conduct the campaign for its presidential candidate at the expense of the state budget.
Besides, the government is also trying to prevent different candidates and their different platforms from competing, in a bid to create the impression that there are no other options except Jadranka Kosor or Stjepan Mesic.
He said his party would respond to this by starting the campaign on 20 October in Knin where he, as the HB presidential candidate, would present his concept of a sovereign policy in opposition to what he said was the servile concept of incumbent President Mesic and Kosor, the candidate of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ).
Commenting on an interview which ran under the headline "Herr Flick's Comeback" in last week's issue of Globus weekly, Pasalic said that although the interview was authorised, it was also censored. He informed reporters that they could find the integral version of the interview on the HB's web site. Asked whether he would refer the case to the Croatian Journalists' Society (HND), Pasalic said this would be a waste of time.
