Addressing the party's assembly in Constituency No. 1, the City of Zagreb, Sanader said he was optimistic about the outcome of the 2 January 2005 polls.
He dismissed rumours that Kosor would not receive the votes of all HDZ members, reiterating that according to a poll, she would receive 30 percent of the votes of people who did not vote for the HDZ at last year's elections.
HDZ vice president Kosor dismissed claims that she was just a "puppet on a string". Responding to those who claimed she could not be the supreme commander of the Armed Forces, she said, "I command with my head. I have one".
Kosor said she would fight for a modern Croatia that would join the European Union, the protection of national interests, higher living standards and employment, and care for the most needy.
Sanader also spoke of what the HDZ had done over the past year, since becoming the ruling party, and recalled the party's contribution to the creation and defence of Croatia, its world affirmation, and the role of the party's founder and Croatia's first president, Franjo Tudjman.
