The bill was opposed by the club of deputies of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who claimed that the government intended to use the bill to put out of force some provisions of the Law on the State Budget.
Earlier in the day, the parliament discussed a draft budget for 2005. Although it was expected that the discussion would last until late in the night, since more than 60 MPs applied for debate, it was completed late this evening after most MPs gave up on the debate.
The parliament will continue the session on Friday.
