Petersen said the elections were the result of a free expression of the Kosovo people's will and that he expected political parties to recognise them and form a new government as soon as possible, reminding the province's institutional leadership that it should listen to the voice of all minorities, notably Serbs.
Jens Modvig, OSCE Mission deputy chief, said the elections were held in line with all rules and instructions of the UN Mission in Kosovo and the central election commission.
According to the OSCE Mission and the central election commission, the Democratic Alliance of Kosovo won 47 parliamentary seats, the Democratic Party of Kosovo 30, the Alliance for Kosovo's Future nine, the Ora Civil Initiative seven, the Albanian Christian Democratic Party of Kosovo two, and the Turkish Democratic Party of Kosovo, the Party of Justice, the Bosniak "Vakat" party, the People's Movement of Kosovo and the Liberal Party of Kosovo won one seat each.
