SPLIT, Nov 21 (Hina) - Msgr. Martin Vidovic on Sunday was ordained astitular archbishop of the ancient diocese of Nona (namely the town ofNin near Zadar) so that he can take office of Apostolic Nuncio toBelarus. The Croatian dignitary
was appointed by Pope John Paul II tothe post of the Vatican's nuncio to Minsk earlier this year.
SPLIT, Nov 21 (Hina) - Msgr. Martin Vidovic on Sunday was ordained as
titular archbishop of the ancient diocese of Nona (namely the town of Nin near
Zadar) so that he can take office of Apostolic Nuncio to Belarus. The Croatian
dignitary was appointed by Pope John Paul II to the post of the Vatican's
nuncio to Minsk earlier this year.The ceremony of his promotion to titular archbishop of Nin was held in
the Croatian coastal city of Split at service led by the Apostolic Nuncio to
Croatia, Angelo Sodano, accompanied by Sarajevo Archbishop, Cardinal Vinko
Puljic, and Split Archbishop Marin Barisic.
Present at the Mass in Split Cathedral of St. Peter were many religious
dignitaries as well as state officials including Sabor Speaker Vladimir Seks,
Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and a few ministers.
Vidovic was born in the village of Vidonje near the southern town of
Metkovic in 1953, and he became a priest in 1989. Since 1994 he has been an
official in the Vatican's state secretariat.
