ZAGREB, Nov 11 (Hina) - Religious communities in Croatia are generally satisfied with the agreements they signed with the Government a year ago, participants in a round-table debate said in Zagreb on Thursday.

The debate was organised by the Association for Religious Freedoms.

Speaking for the Serb Orthodox Church, its representative Simo Raic said the agreement was a big step for this Church because it gave it autonomy.

Participants pointed to problems in media coverage, denationalisation, and the social significance attributed to smaller religious communities.

They said the round-table debate indicated that Croatia was a multiconfessional country, which they added was important for the freedom of each community.

In attendance were representatives of the Serb Orthodox Church, the Federation of Baptist Churches, the Evangelical Pentecostal Church in Croatia, the Christian Adventist Church, and the Council of Christ's Churches, which signed agreements with the Government, and the Jewish Community, the Free Catholic Church, the Universal Life of Croatia and the New Apostolic Church, which have not signed them.

Representatives of the Catholic Church and the Islamic Community did not attend.
