BELGRADE, Nov 18 (Hina) - There are still no official reactions in Belgrade to a violation of the Croatian border on the Danube river on Thursday morning, when Croatian police spotted a military ship from Serbia and Montenegro sailing on the Croatian side of the Danube near the eastern town of Dalj.

The head of the Army of Serbia and Montenegro's public relations office, Dragan Velickovic, told reporters that the Defence Ministry was expected to issue a statement during the day or on Friday.

In a statement to the press, an official at the office, Ksenija Djuric, dismissed any possibility of this being an act of provocation, stating that there was not the least reason for such a thing. She also pointed to problems in determining the border on the "meandering" river.

Vukovar County police spokesman Miroslav Jandric on Thursday confirmed that a violation of the state border by a military ship from Serbia and Montenegro without incidents was reported and that the ship was escorted to the side of the Danube under the control of Serbia and Montenegro. Serbia and Montenegro recently made a decision on the withdrawal of its army from the borders to replace it with the police. The withdrawal has reportedly started, but due to lack of money it is not known when it will be completed.
