BELGRADE, Nov 18 (Hina) - The Serbia and Montenegro Parliament on Thursday adopted a national defence strategy after erasing from its draft a regulation on the obligation to cooperate with the U.N. war crimes tribunal in The Hague.

The regulation, which was within an article on the country's vital security and defence interests, was erased due to objections from some opposition MPs from Montenegro, the Radicals and the Socialists.

The adopted national defence strategy notes the country's commitment to integrate into Euro-Atlantic institutions, including NATO, but states that admission to the alliance has to be confirmed at a referendum.

The state union's Parliament also adopted a law on the transfer of the powers of military courts, the military prosecution and military ombudsman to Serbian and Montenegrin bodies. The adoption of this law abolishes the military judiciary, whose authority will be taken over by civilian courts, in line with the Serbia and Montenegro Constitutional Charter.
