ZAGREB, Nov 10 (Hina) - Croatia's Ambassador to the USA, Neven Jurica, suspended an employee of the Croatian Embassy in Washington, Vibor Kalogjera, for keeping an on-line diary with inappropriate content, the Foreign Ministry confirmed on Wednesday.

"Ambassador Jurica has suspended Vibor Kalogjera indefinitely and an investigation into the circumstances of this case is under way," ministry spokesman Dobroslav Silobrcic told Hina.

Ambassador Jurica would not officially comment on the reason or circumstances of Kalogjera's suspension, saying that he was not authorised to communicate with the media about personnel issues.

He would not say why he suspended the embassy official nor whether Kalogjera would remain in Washington or return to Croatia.

The Croatian media reported recently that Kalogjera, the third secretary at the embassy in Washington, published an Internet diary using inappropriate and vulgar language to describe his official activities and publishing his remarks about some US politicians.

Using the nickname Vibbi, Kalogjera reportedly stated that he was not employed "by (Foreign Minister Miomir) Zuzul, but by (Prime Minister Ivo) Sanader", adding that he was "one of the key people at the Croatian Democratic Union's election headquarters during the last elections", the press reported.
