According to a press release issued by the Croatian Economy Ministry, Vukelic spoke about a high deficit on Croatia's side in the exchange of goods with China, and asked his Chinese hosts to help Croatian business people to enter the great Chinese market.
Minister Vukelic also spoke about potentials of Croatia's seaports of Rijeka and Ploce for being gateways for Chinese goods on their way to Europe and about possibilities of strengthening cooperation between regions of the two countries.
The Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Tang supported proposals by the Croatian guest, who arrived in China on Monday for an official visit.
He added that the Chinese government attached great importance to overall relations with Croatia, which was also proved by the 12th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
On Tuesday afternoon, the central part of Vukelic's visit to Beijing was held when he met for talks with the Chinese Minister of Commerce, Bo Xilai.
On that occasion, the Croatian minister summarised results of his two-day visit and of the eighth session of the Croatian-Chinese economic committee.
Chinese officials concluded that the forthcoming visit of Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader would be a chance for elaborating bilateral projects.
On Wednesday, Minister Vukelic will travel to Shanghai.
