VIENNA, Nov 9 (Hina) - The UN headquarters in Vienna sees Croatia as an active factor and partner in the solving of problems and achieving stability and peace in the region, Croatian Foreign Minister Miomir Zuzul said in Vienna on Tuesday at the end of his visit to Austria and participation in a conference of the UN Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO).

"Clearly, Croatia is in an entirely different and new situation regarding its international relations and activities. The UN headquarters in Vienna sees Croatia as a partner which can help the stabilisation of the rest of the region," Zuzul said.

The Croatian minister on Tuesday attended the presentation of the UNIDO project on the development of corporate social responsibility for Croatia. He gave a talk at the UNIDO conference and held a number of bilateral meetings.

Executive Director of the UN headquarters in Vienna, Antonio Maria Costa, and UNIDO Director General Carlos Magarinos said they saw Croatia as an active member in the solving of problems and achieving stability and peace in the region, Zuzul told Croatian reporters.

Zuzul said he and Magarinos had also talked about the opening of an UNIDO regional centre in Croatia early next year.

Talks with Antonio Maria Costa focused on the activities and the work of the UN Office in Vienna, notably efforts and activities aimed at preventing drug abuse, people trafficking, organised crime and global terrorism, Zuzul said and added the talks also focused on the activities Croatia was taking in connection with that. He said Croatia's cooperation with the UN Office in Vienna and international organisations in the Austrian capital were generally good.

Minister Zuzul said his visit to Vienna was successful and useful. He said that Austrian Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik on Monday confirmed Austria's full support to Croatia, particularly in light of important decisions concerning Croatia, to be made in December.

Zuzul ended his two-day working visit to Vienna by meeting OSCE Secretary General Jan Kubis.
