Poljanic, whose term will soon expire, said at a news conference held at the end of the "Croatian Days in Boka" event in Kotor, that his successor to this post would be Ivan Skaric, a former mayor of the city of Split and a Croatian Social Liberal (HSLS) deputy to the national parliament.
"I arrived in Kotor immediately after the war events and found Croats in the position in which they were then. Today the situation is much improved, and I am leaving very happy as I have seen a period when the Croatian minority in Boka (the Montenegrin Bay of Kotor) was revitalised after very ugly events and the horrendous war in the region," Poljanic told the conference on Sunday.
The new Croatian consul general arrives on 24 December.
