Together with Romanian President In Iliescu, Sanader will give a talk at the opening of the conference during which he will sign a charter on good neighbourly relations, stability and cooperation in Southeast Europe.
Regional cooperation is one of the important conditions Croatia must meet in its process of joining the EU.
The Croatian government last Friday authorised Sanader to sign the charter on regional cooperation so that Croatia could become a full member of the SEECP.
The South-East European Cooperation Process is a non-institutionalised regional cooperation structure. It was created in 1996, when Bulgaria organised a meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs, to lay the foundation of a new co-operation forum, following the birth of new countries in the Balkans.
Members of the SEECP are Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia and Serbia and Montenegro, Croatia has an observer status and will formalise its participation during the Romanian Chairmanship-in-Office (2004-2005).
