KOPRIVNICA, Oct 31 (Hina) - The association of disabled war veterans and veterans' widows employed with the Podravka food manufacturer has asked Croatian President Stjepan Mesic to publicly apologise to all war veterans for stating that Croatia had never been at war with Montenegro.

In an open letter to Mesic on Sunday, association president Mladen Pavkovic said the statement Mesic made after talks with Montenegrin Foreign Minister Miodrag Vlahovic yesterday was insulting.

Pavkovic said that not one senior Montenegrin official had said to date that Montenegro had not been at war with Croatia. He also recalled that while visiting Montenegro in June 2000, Mesic asked Montenegrins to apologise for participating in the aggression on Croatia.

Pavkovic said, among other things, that shells falling on Dubrovnik, southern Croatia, during the 1990s war had been coming from Montenegro, that one of the most infamous Serb-run detention camps, Morinje, had been in Montenegro, and that Montenegrin soldiers had been in all Yugoslav People's Army units fighting in Croatia.
