"The Government is doing its best to turn the election competition into an uninteresting process of survival of Stjepan Mesic as President of the Republic," HB said in a statement signed by its leader, Ivic Pasalic, in his capacity as a presidential candidate.
Pasalic claims that a non-aggression pact has been concluded between two presidential candidates -- Deputy Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor and the incumbent President Stjepan Mesic.
"As a result of consultations between the Office of the President and the Government, artificial confusion has been created benefiting only the favourites. From the position of government and power, they are advertising themselves to the point of good taste," HB said, adding that "the Government will delay announcement of a date of the election as much as it can."
The party urged the Government to stop "this show" and set a date of the election immediately.
