ZAGREB, Oct 29 (Hina) - The present Commission on Conflict of Interest will be dissolved and a new one appointed, the Parliament Presidency and representatives of parliamentary parties agreed at a meeting on Friday.

The Presidency agreed to a majority of demands by six opposition parties, which paved the way for defusing the unnecessary political tension in the Parliament and avoiding a boycott of parliamentary committee sessions and the Parliament itself.

It was agreed that the present Commission would be dissolved and that all parliamentary parties would propose new members of the Commission, Parliament Speaker Vladimir Seks told reporters after a meeting which lasted several hours, adding that he hoped new members would be appointed by consensus.

It was also agreed that requests by parties for a recess would be granted when made in accordance with the Rules of Procedure and that chairpersons would standardise their responses to insults and inappropriate language.

It will also be the duty of parliamentary parties themselves to prevent such behaviour, Social Democratic Party leader Ivica Racan said.

Seks and Racan said that they were satisfied with an atmosphere of tolerance in which the meeting had taken place.
