Immediately upon receiving the report on Krpan's disappearance, the ministry notified all relevant consular offices of the case and took all necessary measures to collect information about the missing man, the Office of the Ministry's Spokesman said today.
Krpan's father, Petar Krpan, said that he feared that his son had gone missing in Iraq.
About five weeks ago, Jakov Krpan departed for Germany for the loading of the cargo on his truck, his father said adding that he did not know the exact licence numbers of his son's truck of the Man type or the name of the company for which he was working.
About three weeks ago, Krpan phoned his father from the Iraqi-Turkish border.
The ministry also confirmed that it was intensively working on the collection of information on another Croatian truck driver, Damir Mikulic, who was reportedly arrested by Americans in Iraq on suspicion of espionage. According to the Croatian press, Mikulic was nabbed while filming US bases and the route of his convoy.
