During his official visit to Croatia, Swoboda held talks with the SDP president and vice president, Ivica Racan and Zeljka Antunovic respectively, about the current Croatia-EU relations.
According to the statement, Swoboda said that as a rapporteur, he would support Croatia on its path to the EU and advocate the country's admission to the Union and try persuade those who have express scepticism about the idea of the EU enlargement.
Swoboda said he would report to the European parliament about the pace of the implementation of reforms in Croatia and advocate that Croatia use all EU resources so as to prepare for the EU admission in the best possible way, the statement said.
SDP President Racan stressed the importance of the fact that Croatia would join the EU by the will of its citizens.
