The minister said after the opening the seminar was aimed at achieving a more effective legal system by 2007. She explained the education of judges and state prosecutors, alongside bringing order into land books and dealing with backlog cases, was one of the most important tasks of the judicial reform.
Skare-Ozbolt added the Judicial Academy would become fully operational in January 2005, and thanked the EU for donating EUR1.5 million for the academy through the CARDS programme.
Wunenburger applauded the efforts the Justice Ministry and Skare-Ozbolt were investing to adjust the Croatian judiciary to European standards.
