Speaking to the press in Savudrija on Saturday, Cehok suggested adopting in the meantime a transitional agreement on the use of the bay, also known as Piran Bay, in order to avert incidents between Croatian and Slovene fishermen.
He called on the Slovenes to stop provoking in Croatian territorial waters, appealing for common sense, understanding, and defusing tension. He said there was no alternative to good neighbourly relations.
Cehok went on to say that international arbitration was not disgraceful and was the way other countries resolved bilateral disputes. He also said the transitional agreement must not be detrimental to Croatian fishermen.
Speaking of forthcoming local elections, Cehok said the HSLS was ready to form various coalitions in Istria County expect with the Istrian Democratic Assembly, the ruling party in the county.
He added the HSLS advocated direct mayoral elections in order to prevent partitocracy.
