The Croatian Fraternity Union, founded in Pittsburgh in 1894, is the biggest and the oldest organisation of Croats outside the Homeland.
Addressing the present, Sanader called for unity of the Croat national being.
The Croatian PM said Croatia aspired to two strategic objectives -- joining NATO and the European Union. He said that at the same time Croatia was creating a society which protected human rights and promoted democracy and market economy.
Croatian Foreign Minister Miomir Zuzul highlighted the role of the Croatian Fraternity Union in the preservation of Croatia's identity and the culture of Croats in the United States and Canada
Holy Mass, held on the occasion of the 110th anniversary, was celebrated by Zagreb Archbishop Cardinal Josip Bozanic.
Pittsburgh Bishop Sonald Wuerl also attended Holy Mass after which he presented Bozanic with a US$25,000 cheque for the needs of the Catholic Church in Croatia.
The Croatian Fraternity Union has some 90,000 members mostly from the United States and about 1,500 from Canada.
