The conference is attended by representatives of the interior ministries and police forces from Central and Southeast European countries, including Croatian Interior Minister Marjan Mlinaric.
Addressing the present, Slovene Interior Minister Rado Bohinc said the objective of the fourth conference was to find an efficient way of controlling migration processes on the multilateral, bilateral and regional level and to encourage cooperation within the European Union.
The Slovene minister said the role of the European Union was extremely important as was a balanced approach in the creation of the legal framework and standards which would ensure an efficient control of state borders and the control of legal entities seeking asylum.
The participants in the conference will adopt a statement on the illegal migration and asylum problems and results of the work of the conference will be presented at a news conference this afternoon.
