Kusen said that the conduct of the Slovene police in some cases was not in line with the agreement of the two border police forces and called on the Slovene side to address, with Croatia, the European Commission with regard to the further implementation of the Agreement on Cooperation in Border Areas in the segment referring to economic fishing.
Slovenia was also urged to cooperate in strengthening political and diplomatic efforts in overcoming tensions, avoiding incidents and preventing their being politicised, the statement said.
The Croatian side called on the Slovene authorities to continue negotiations with the aim of reaching agreement on the optimal international instrument for a lasting solution to the issue of border demarcation at sea.
Governed by the policy of good neighbourly relations and taking into account positive achievements in bilateral relations, Croatia will continue contributing to the promotion of bilateral relations and a negotiated settlement of the outstanding issues, the ministry said in the statement.
