BELGRADE, Aug 27 (Hina) - The Foreign Ministry of Serbia and Montenegro on Friday did not comment on the Croatian government's decision to remove the memorial plaques to Mile Budak in Sveti Rok and Jure Francetic in Slunj nor on the news that the plaques have been removed.

The ministry protested on Thursday over the unveiling of the plaque to Ustashi official Budak. Assistant Foreign Minister Dusan Crnogorcevic invited over Croatian Ambassador Tonci Stanicic, expressed protest and asked for an explanation for the unveiling of the plaque.

The Belgrade-based news agency Beta reported on Friday that the monument to the minister in the Nazi puppet government in his home town Sveti Rok was removed on Friday morning, which the Croatian government confirmed.

Beta also reported that the Croatian government at an extraordinary session on Thursday evening adopted a decision on the removal of memorial plaques to Budak and Francetic because "the unveiling of those plaques is contrary to the fundamental values of the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia and is harmful for the reputation and interests of the Republic of Croatia which the government is obliged to protect".

The news was also reported by Belgrade's radio B 92.
