ZAGREB, Sept 9 (Hina) - The Croatian government on Thursday sent to parliament for discussion under urgent procedure a bill on road transport which harmonises road transport with EU standards.

The government also sent to parliament draft changes to the Law on the Prevention of Narcotics Abuse as the existing regulation on courts appointing a commission witnessing the destruction of confiscated drugs has proven ineffective.

The government has opted for a permanent seven-member commission including representatives of relevant ministries and a representative of the Croatian Journalists' Association.

The parliament was also forwarded a bill on explosive substances proposing that the deadline for the hand-over of pyrotechnic devices (e.g. firecrackers) be extended. Under the existing law, those devices can be sold from 26 December to 1 January, and the bill proposes that they be sold throughout December.
