ZAGREB, Aug 27 (Hina) - The government's decision to remove themonuments to Mile Budak and Jure Francetic is sensible andconstitutional and it sends a clear and unambiguous message to theCroatian and international public that the
government respects theconstitutional order of the Republic of Croatia, Croatian parliamentPresident Vladimir Seks said on Friday.
ZAGREB, Aug 27 (Hina) - The government's decision to remove the
monuments to Mile Budak and Jure Francetic is sensible and constitutional and
it sends a clear and unambiguous message to the Croatian and international
public that the government respects the constitutional order of the Republic of
Croatia, Croatian parliament President Vladimir Seks said on Friday.Seks told Hina that the government had entrusted the justice and culture
ministries to draw up a bill on historical monuments which would regulate the
erection of monuments and other memorial plaques on the local and national
level.
He added that the law should also regulate the naming of streets and
squares.
He said the justice ministry had been entrusted to within eight days
draw up and submit a bill of amendments to the Penal Code which would ban the
promotion and glorification of totalitarian ideologies, Fascism, Nazism,
Communism and other totalitarian regimes.
After the bills are forwarded to parliamentary procedure, deputies will
discuss it within the set deadline, Seks said.
