Pope received Draskovic and his wife in the papal summer residence at Castle Gandolf outside Rome.
Draskovic also met Vatican Secretary for Relations with States Giovanni Lajolo, with whom he discussed the state of affairs in the Balkans, terrorism and ways of preventing it.
During his stay in Rome, Draskovic also met his Italian counterpart Franco Frattini, deputy Prime Minister Gianfranco Fini, and speaker of the House of Representatives Pierferdinando Casini. Some 200 Italian businessmen are scheduled to visit Belgrade in the next several weeks and look into the possibilities of starting business in the region.
Rome supports Serbia and Montenegro's efforts to draw closer to Euro-Atlantic organisations, Frattini said.
