BELGRADEBELGRADE, Aug 30 (Hina) - The new head of of the UN Mission in Kosovo,Soeren Jessen, arrived in Belgrade on Monday for his first officialvisit and held talks with Serbian leaders on the decentralisation ofpower, new security
measures, economically sustainable system, localself-government units and coming elections in Kosovo.
BELGRADE, Aug 30 (Hina) - The new head of of the UN Mission in
Kosovo, Soeren Jessen, arrived in Belgrade on Monday for his first official
visit and held talks with Serbian leaders on the decentralisation of power, new
security measures, economically sustainable system, local self-government
units and coming elections in Kosovo.After a brief meeting with Serbian President Boris Tadic,
Jessen-Petersen said he wanted an open and constructive dialogue.
The UN Civil Administrator in Kosovo said he was satisfied with the
meeting with Tadic and added that it was in the interest of the region and
people that Kosovo be a multiethnic and safe society.
Before meeting Tadic, Jessen-Petersen held talks with Serbia-Montenegro
Foreign Minister Vuk Draskovic and Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav
Kostunica.
The UNMIK head will also hold talks with the ambassadors of the Contact
Group member countries.
